Sometimes a bad situation is what you need. When everything is going well ( or just going ) we don’t seem to see what’s right in front of us. This year started like every other one so we continued like we’ve always done. Then all of a sudden we’re locked up.
The Coronavirus changed how we live. And while we are still trying to deal with it, there is a positive side to this. You can either take this as a vacation and get some rest, forcing you to make friends with your family again. Or you can use this to recharge, take charge, and charge ahead.
Most of my online friends are eating and drinking and smoking non stop. Since I have continued working, my vacation never happened. But I decided to exercise religiously since there is no where to go and nobody to hang out with. My diet has improved because there is no restaurant or junk food available. Most people say I don’t have enough time to workout consistently. Now you have nothing but time. Gyms are closed but the floor is there for pushups, situps and burpees. Jumping jacks, air squats and mountain climbers can be done wherever and whenever.
Next, clean out your closet. Throw out things you don’t wear or that don’t fit. Iron wrinkled shirts you have smashed up ( that was my first weekend). And when you try those clothes on, take a good look in the mirror. See your skin, teeth. Two other things to work on. Over the counter teeth whitening products will make a difference because you can actually follow instructions now. Exfoliate, moisturize, drink water. Your face will show results once you return to the world.
And as you externally improve, you have developed good habits to carry in the future. This is an opportunity to start building and developing a routine that you normally wouldn’t have had the chance to. Habits take time to stick, so you have to be consistent. Whether you make a schedule to workout or decide 25 pushups 4 times a day, just do it. I prefer to do my things at night, so I automatically have my weights ready or a scrub for my face depending on the day of the week.
While the world looks around to see what will happen, we can look within and see how good we can be. Make this your training camp so when the bell rings and we climb back to fight of life, you can confidently charge forward. When everyone else is getting back on their feet, you are standing strong.
Now the most important difference between the you who first closed that door and the man who walks out is that you took charge. That decision to sharpen the sword while everyone else complained how bored it is, is what makes you the better man.
