It is important to look good.

This is a fact I stress to everyone. First impressions last forever. Right or wrong, we all make them. Sometimes we don’t get a second chance to recover. So it is to our benefit that we don’t start off the wrong foot.

We are always making observations and judgements throughout the day. Everything influences what we think and how we feel. Which is why we should always keep things to our advantage. It is a proven fact that appearance matters. That’s why the saying ” Don’t judge a book by the cover ” exists. Because we all do.

But there is a big difference between ” looking good” and being “good looking”. Looking good is being the best you can. This is all within your control. There is no grey area, you either do or don’t. Good looking is a gift. Your height, face, body ( for the most part ) are genetic gifts from your parents. Those born with these advantages have a head start on you but that does not mean you cannot compete.

The problem is if you’ve made a bad first impression, you’re swimming upstream to change someone’s opinion of you. A major basis of this first impression and subsequent judgement is based on a person’s attractiveness. Psychologists call this the “What is beautiful is good” effect – we immediately have a positive impression of a person if he’s attractive and a negative impression if he’s unattractive.

Of course, as time goes on people will eventually see the true. However, if it’s a job interview, a hook up with a chick, you may never get the opportunity to shine. That initial image you presented may eliminate you before you ever had a chance. So always be prepared, not to impress anyone else but for yourself. As you become accustomed to always look good, it becomes second nature. You will never be caught on a bad day because there are no bad days.

Not only will people think of you as that great, attractive positive guy, more important, you will believe it also. As that grows within, it will reflect in all that surrounds you.
