With the change of seasons, there must be an adjustment of your up keep. The same way you winterize your car, you have to maintain your body. The drastic drops in temperature and windy days do as much damage to your skin as baking in the sun.
Moisturizer and sunblock are all year round necessities. I work outdoors and have a skin illness so sunblock is especially important. But the elements do a lot of harm to your face and hands. And the longer you expose your skin , the longer it takes to heal and recover. As we get older, the recovery process becomes less and we get permanent scars, wrinkles and peeling. And what most forget is that your lips are very sensitive and can be very painful if neglected. Cracked lips hurt 24/7 if you allow it to get that far. It goes beyond just looking bad, but harming yourself which affects your daily life.
Every winter I get at least 1 outbreak of dandruff. Since I wear a cap , I always end up with sweaty or dry scalp. Then I got a wool knit cap last Christmas and never had a problem. It seems that the natural fibers breathe and allow air flow so your head has a more regulated atmosphere. When your hair is as important as your clothes or physique, everything matters !
The other thing that most get confused are supplements. They market Vitamin C and Zinc as cold prevention but it isn’t so. Of course fortifying your immune system is always good but it does not prevent illness. A virus can hit you any time. The advantage of supplements is in the recovery, not prevention. But good health is valuable all seasons.
