I have a strange relationship with food. I really have no appetite.  I can miss a meal or 2 and not affect me at all. Unless I think about it,  whether it is lunch , a snack or a holiday meal, it really doesn’t matter to me. I enjoy food, but a sliver of rich cheesecake ( thanks Jessy) can hold me over for the next few years. 1 potato chip, 1 oreo cookie, 1 jelly bean satisfies that urge to taste.

So it is no surprise that being overweight is not a problem . However being on weight or under does not imply healthy.  We all have nutritional needs for general basic health. The problem is meeting all the required amounts. And that isn’t necessarily based on government standards. Those are just guidelines for the average person. You should tweak those numbers to your needs, whether it be based on health or your lifestyle.

If you are trying to lose or gain weight, calories are important numbers to watch. But you can adjust even further by controlling the amount of carbohydrates and protein you intake. In order to build muscle I have to force myself to eat and use supplements.  So the better you know and take care of your body,  it is much easier to control your weight and energy needs.

And that is the other problem people have. There is lots of info out there about nutrition, but until you commit to follow a plan , it cannot take effect. Like anything else you choose to do, your effort is the factor of success or failure. You have to make it so important to you that it eliminates all distractions and eventually becomes a habit.
