Winter is my least favorite season. The sun rises late and it is night early in the afternoon.  Of course that I work outside is my biggest complaint ( however that is my choice ). With snow, wind and freezing temperatures,  there aren’t many positive things to say.

But from a style point of view it is a great season.  There are many options available due to the elements and degree of chill in the air. The key is layering. How you can build your look, whether it be active, formal, business, is totally in your hands. You already have all the basics in your wardrobe, it is by combining or just adding a middle layer to this. The key is simplicity.

The bottom layer is the lightest or base of the wardrobe. A long sleeve the shirt or button down is a good start. Sweaters are a safe middle layer because they are there for insulation. Either a cardigan or a sportier v neck are good choices. I have a sweater vest I have been planning on wearing which might be my new years eve outfit. Then whatever coat or jacket fits the occasion.

A good thing with layering is that you can remove the middle layer and still have a new days wardrobe because nobody saw the shirt. Just don’t do it on consecutive days. I sometimes wear a short sleeve Polo Shirt (if not so cold) as the bottom layer because the only part exposed is the collar. These options expand you choices and look because you can mix what you already have. And if you are new to experimenting with clothes, you can slowly try different combinations until you get confident enough to spend on cashmere and other fabrics that will really upgrade your image !
